Am I being weird?

This is the first post for my new blog - Nebraska Football. I don't really feel like welcoming anybody who may stumble upon reading it, so I'm just gonna jump right in.

My first thoughts after witnessing the Kansas State game this past Saturday:
  • First, is it weird that I don't want Nebraska to go to a bowl game this year? I want this season over right after the handshake in Boulder. Callahan should be fired before he can check his bags for the flight back to Lincoln. He can send for his things. If Nebraska can pull off a win against Colorado the day after Thanksgiving it would set back the entire schedule by a month because Osborne won't fire Bill until the season is over. I am curious as to how the rest of Husker Nation feels about this... so please answer my poll to the right -->
  • Second, the obvious response to Saturday's game, is - where the hell has this been all year? I don't think it was Joe Ganz, I don't think Callahan suddenly got through to his players. So what does that leave? I just think Kansas State is a bad team (at least on this day). They never got pressure on Ganz, and he picked them apart deep. Conversely, the Blackshirts actually tackled and played with emotion through the first three quarters. Maybe it was because of senior day... It can't be explained, because Nebraska is an inconsistent team.
  • Third, some quick thoughts on Joe Ganz's performance against KSU:
    • He showed the ability to look down field even after his first option was covered. Unlike Keller, he didn't automatically check down to his RB after freaking out.
    • Joe has really good feet and could escape pressure to look downfield or run.
    • Somewhat related to my first point, but he actually throws to Maurice Purify even if he is covered. Maurice is a great player and has show that if given the chance to make a play on the football, he typically will. Keller rarely gave Purify the chance, but through two games it looks like Joe Ganz has confidence in him (and rightly so).
  • Fourth, I love Steve Octavien.

Found your link on the "Fire Bill Callahan" blog and have it bookmarked. Will be back while following the Cornhuskers.

One quick comment...please don't use "Husker Nation". I believe that was a Steve Pederson term, along with "The Power of Red", which can also go away.

Haha, ok fair enough. I thought Husker Nation was older, but don't want to bring bad thoughts.

I agree that it will be best if the Huskers don't go to a bowl game. I would hope that Callahan will be fired at the end of the Colorado game, but there isn't any need to take a chance.

One question I have not seen addressed. IF Callahan is terminated at the conclusion of the Colorado game and IF someone is named head coach that is involved in a bowl game, will the new coach be able to start recruiting immediately? It is just a gut feeling, but I think the cry next year will be "BO BIG RED".

Heard on KOZN-1620 today that if NU qualifies for a bowl game and the Big 12 has an open bowl slot, that NU has to go, that they can't decline it because it's in the Big 12 by-laws.

But...BUT...they also mentioned that Steve Sipple of the Lincoln Journal Star spoke to T.O. and clarified with him that "the end of the season" means the regular season, NOT after a bowl game. So Billy C and Coz could get tossed after the CU game, even if NU is going to a bowl game.
